Hotel Rivel – Costa Rica

This hotel is one of the most magical places we’ve ever visited. Even though getting there is a bit adventurous, it’s absolutely worth it.

The hotel has very beautiful rooms, and also small mini cottages that you can rent. Below the hotel there’s a small river and a lovely swimming spot to cool off. You can go for a wonderful walk along the river. Breakfast is incredibly plentiful and delicious! Their smoothies are simply brilliant! The value for money is excellent.

From the terrace you can easily spend hours watching hummingbirds. We really enjoyed that. There were also a few animals you could go and see.

The roads in Costa Rica are often quite adventurous, but with a 4WD it’s manageable. You can’t always rely on the time estimates from route guides; the drive can often take several times longer, which also means using more fuel. It makes sense to find out where the next (or last) gas station is before leaving the main roads.

If necessary, you can buy individual liter bottles of fuel in the small shops along the road.
